1. Indian Rupee Woes

Rupee is at an all-time low against the Dollar due to rising demand for the greenback in light of higher crude oil prices. Tightening US rates and US-China trade woes act as further headwinds for the INR.  

 

2. Fortis and The Singh Brothers Fallout

 Shivinder Singh, ex-promoter of Fortis Healthcare recently moved to NCLT accusing elder brother Malvinder Singh and former head of Religare, Sunil Godhwani of oppression and mismanagement of RHC Holding, Religare and Fortis.

 

3. Coke's Coffee Play 

Coca-Cola announced its acquisition of the British Coffee-Shop chain Costa for $5.1bn. Costa has nearly 4,000 retail outlets worldwide and offers coffee in grocery shops and gas stations. Coke already sells some coffee products and also owns the Georgia brand in Japan. Acquisition demonstrates the drive of soda makers to diversify beyond sugary drinks.
