5 Tips to Stay Fit and Healthy During the Coronavirus Lockdown

It’s a paradoxical situation we’re all facing these days. Health concerns are keeping us from going outside because of the coronavirus lockdown; at the same time, remaining indoors for prolonged periods can cause health concerns of its own.

Can’t go out because there might be a virus lurking around. But can’t stay in because it might make us obese and lethargic.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though. There are many things we can be doing to keep ourselves healthy and fit amidst the coronavirus lockdown. And this is important – not only to boost our immune systems during these viral times, but also to remain hale and hearty even if we’re confined within four walls.

Some tips to stay fit and active during lockdown:

Eat Healthy

Eat healthy. Being stuck at home, especially if you’re on your own, can tempt you to binge on junk food. You’ll regret this later. Better to learn cooking – it’s simple and fun! Or if you’re not able to cook, stock up on healthy alternatives from the grocery store (especially fruits).

Working Out

Workout. If you’re a gym freak, you might be worried about losing all your gains. Even if you’re not a gym aficionado, staying at home can make you gain unwanted pounds. But there are countless workout-at-home programmes on TV, social media and fitness apps. Also, don’t forget to do housework regularly and exercise while you do it.

Sound Sleep

Sleep. You know the drill. Lockdown or no lockdown, getting enough sleep is key to a healthy lifestyle.

Stay Connected

Social distancing doesn’t mean social isolation. Maintain physical distance from others, but remain connected with your family or friends, be it via calls or video chats of text messages.

De-stress

Don’t stress yourself and remain optimistic. The lockdown will end one day and the pandemic will die down. We will head outdoors again, hug our loves ones again, and see normalcy again!
